They are full of protein, healthy fats and a variety of essential nutrients. They are portable and widely available. But most importantly, nothing tastes better after hours of walking and climbing.
The local tradition is to bring salty crackers and peanut butter too, not bad :)

Just have some #boiledpotatoes and #fishfillets :) Those were the two most satiating foods in a 1995 study. The authors compared various popular foods to white bread and found that #potatoes are more than 3x as satiating and a #croissant is only 47 % as #satiating.
The reason why foods in the first picture are so much better is that they are rich in #water, #fibre and #protein. These three food properties send a strong satiety signal to your brain and help you feel full and satisfied after a meal.
So, if you want to stop #overeating, maintain a #healthy weight with ease, or start a sustainable #weightloss journey then focusing on satiating foods will be a big help!

This is a relatively old photo which reminds me that I haven't always had this job. I feel grateful that I can make a living doing what I enjoy - studying, writing, and speaking about nutrition and healthy living.
Even though I had to make some tough decisions it was the best thing I've ever done.
If you're dreaming about a different job like I was years ago I encourage you to make it your hobby, then your part time job, and if it truly is what you love to do, make it your life. Just remember it's not a sprint but a marathon. Just like making a meaningful dietary or lifestyle change.
This has been a great year and the next one is looking to be even better! Thank you to everyone that has helped and encouraged me along the way. ❤

This is one of my favourites. Salt and pepper a #fish filet and put it on a hot pan with some butter. Let it cook slowly while cutting up some #veggies #avocado and #cheese. In about 15 minutes you should be ready to serve a #nutritious and #filling meal!

If you don't have time to exercise (just like aprox. 100% of people) I highly recommend setting up a "gym" at home. I started with 2 kettlebells and a floor. With effort and determination I made it to my dream setup of 3 kettlebells, a fancy floor, and something to hang from ;)
You don't really need much more to do the basic maintenance of your body. And finding a few minutes every day should be possible for most of us.

Looking at the nutrient content #romaine lettuce surprisingly has a lot more #vitamin A, C, K, and folate than the highly touted #spirulina seaweed in its #raw form. They both have very respectable amounts of antioxidants and research also suggests they both protect against #heartdisease and #cancer.
This begs the question, would romaine lettuce be just as popular as spirulina if it was imported and sold as a pill?
Maybe we don't need to spend a lot of money on overpriced powdered "superfoods" to achieve good health. There are plenty of nutrient dense, #healthy, and #affordable foods you can buy at your local store - onions, garlic, eggs, liver, colourful veggies, leafy greens, and the list goes on. They just don't have big marketing teams pushing their sales.

Despite being born in a country with no sea or #ocean I have been drawn to this sport by some mysterious force for a long time. I'm starting to understand why.
Even though it's really hard and I spent like 90% of the time failing I couldn't stop smiling. There's something about being in the ocean, learning a new skill, and having glimpses of the real thing that is irresistible. It's so much fun! I can't wait for next time.

This has to be one of my favourite views! Porto an This has to be one of my favourite views! Porto and Lisbon are both really nice cities but they just can't compete with Portugal's coastline. Especially with what I saw in natural park Sintra. The scenery really helps you pause and gain some perspective on life.
